Quite a while ago, I was thinking about starting a blog. I’ve not been that accustomed to reading blogs myself, but I have checked out a few blogs before. One of the blogs I like to read is the ‘How To Market A Game‘ blog, created by Chris Zukowski. Whenever I want to be updated on anything marketing-related, he’s the guy!
I’ve been wanting to start this blog, but it always looked really hard. What blogging service should I use? Do I need a website? Can I use my own domain name? Do I really need to pay a monthly subscription for web hosting!? But after a week of CSS, Ubuntu and figuring out how WordPress works, I now have this neat little site you’re currently reading on.
For a blog like this one, I simply want to put myself out there and share some cool stuff I find interesting. I want it to be an extension of my YouTube videos, where I can talk more in-depth about the stuff I find interesting. You may find it interesting to also see it on YouTube. But sadly, we live in a world, where click-through-rate and fast information matters more.
My goals
There are three things I want to achieve when writing this blog: showing game progress, sharing my experiences and habit building!
Yes, habit building! You probably found this blog on my YouTube channel. I don’t think you just found this blog on Google. My SEO is not that good. And, at this moment, my upload schedule is quite atrocious. I want this blog to also aid me in creating a habit, as both my game and YouTube are harsh endeavours without any ‘fast results’ (if you know what I mean).
That’s why I need something fast, yet creatively satisfying and subjectively easier than creating massive videos or working on a single tree for a few days. This blog exists to put my foot into the door. It’s actually that simple. It’s here to create that habit, which can hopefully bleed over to my YouTube channel more often.
What you can expect
Expect updates about my game, which I’ve been working on for far too long. I intend to speed that process up quite a bit. Let’s hope this blog can also help with that.
I want to talk about what I made, why it’s incredibly awesome, how I did it and what it taught me. And maybe, you’ll get something out of it too!
Anyways! Expect an update on my game next week. The YouTube videos should also resume in the near future, but I’ve been having some technical difficulties, so it’ll take a little longer!
See ya!
